Ever since we first heard Kyla La Grange sing “Walk Through Walls,” we here at Cover Me have been waiting for an excuse to post on her. Now, finally, we have one. La Grange covers her fellows from the wider Mumford & Sons family the Maccabees’ “Love You Better” as the b-side to her new single.
Frequent Triple J Like a Version visitors The Maccabees returned to the studio this week for another live session. Last time they stopped by the studio, they covered The Black Keys’ “Lonely Boy.” During this visit, they reached a little further into the musical past and performed Neil Diamond‘s oft-covered track “Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon.”
Since its release a last fall, the Black Keys‘ “Lonely Boy” has become the duo’s biggest hit and gotten some covers attention from Australian musician Matt Corby. A new cover of the track debuted on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge this week, courtesy of British indie rockers The Maccabees. Live Lounge usually inspires high-quality covers, but the Brighton-based quintet offer an especially polished and creative take on “Lonely Boy.”
