raquel bitton tout s'efface

Raquel Bitton is a famous French singer, actress, and playwright from Morocco.  She recently covered “Tout S’Efface,” a tune about everything from love and reckless random but also anguish and fear. The title of the song literally translates to “Everything Disappears. Bitton covered “Tout S’efface” for her most recent album C’est Magnifique which features a compelling combination of French and Spanish songs, avec a 24-piece orchestra to back her up.

Whereas Rina Ketty’s original version of “Tout S’efface” was charmingly vintage with a boom-chick-chick-chick-chick rhythm, Bitton’s is modern, Mediterranean, exotic. It came in with blazing con fuego trumpets, and a percussive dose of cha-cha-cha. The combination of lyrical horns and tight Latin percussion, makes you feel like you’re sitting on a beach somewhere in Monaco. Vocally, Bitton’s diction is glamorous and crystal-clear. Add this dance-worthy Latin-infused cover to your next playlist, even if you don’t speak the language.
