Jordan Corey is no stranger to Cover Me. The singer/songwriter has been on our radar since the inception of our On The ‘Tube feature and has been on a roll ever since. Corey has never produced a holiday cover song before, deeming the classics “so perfect and almost untouchable,” but when an old high school friend asked if she would shoot a video for his Dad’s tree farm, she couldn’t resist and churned out this stunning rendition of “White Christmas.”
Rihanna‘s video for “Stay” was just released and it is safe to say that there were definitely some people on Valentine’s Day watching that video, glass of wine in hand, reminiscing about a special someone that is no longer in their lives. Cover Me favorite Jordan Corey has taken the heartsick single and mashed it up with Miike Snow‘s “Animal” and Classixx’s “Stranger Love.”
Jordan Corey is becoming a force to be reckoned with. Clear Channel music giant iHeartRadio just listed the 22-year-old as the “Adult Pop Artist” to watch, she just started a cover series on YouTube, and she is in the midst of planning a California coastal tour for February. She’s a busy lady. In celebration of Paloma Faith’s new album, Fall to Grace, Corey kicked off her new cover series with a rendition of “Let Your Love Walk In.”
Back in Feburary, we here at Cover Me first heard Jordan Corey‘s sultry cover of the Rolling Stones classic “Miss You.” For those of you unfamiliar with Corey, the Bay area native has been on Cover Me’s radar for quite some time, covering everything from La Roux to The Beatles. Today, we are pleases to premiere the official music video for her rendition of “Miss You.”
You’ve probably seen our birthday tributes to the likes of Tom Petty, Snoop Dogg, and Madonna. Well, today, they say it’s our birthday. We’re gonna have a good time. In fact, we’ve already begun celebrating. This morning we enjoyed a Schoolhouse Rock Song of the Day. We offered up a new vinyl giveaway. We even re-posted our very first post (covers of songs off John Wesley Harding). But this is the big one.
We contacted a bunch of artists we’ve worked with in the past – terrifically talented folk who have all played a role in Cover Me’s history. We asked them to record birthday-themed cover songs for a special three-year celebration album. Find the fruits of their labor below. Eleven brand-new covers of birthday songs both famous (“It’s My Party”) and obscure (“Birthday Boy”), all recorded just for the occasion. You can download high-quality MP3s individually below or the full set (plus a bonus track!) way down at the bottom. Each artist shared their thoughts on the song they chose, so be sure to read those.
