Self-proclaimed dabblers in “psychedelic boogie,” the Liverpool natives known collectively as All We Are proudly share their take on Canadian composer Caribou’s “Can’t Do Without You.”

With this cover, the English trio subtly shifts Snaith’s dream-pop jam into a slightly funkier direction that draws parallels to the likes of Passion Pit, Brothertiger, and maybe a hint of the xx.  A perhaps more aptly placed comparison comes directly from the band itself, who’ve been to known to describe their music as “the Bee Gees on diazepam.” Continue reading »

Yes, we know 2010 ended a while ago, but the tributes just keep coming. The latest comes from Irish record label Quarter Inch Collective. They recruited their favorite artists to look back on 2010 with some covers on their new release Quompilation. Thirteen bands put their spin on 2010 hits (Rihanna’s “Rude Boy”) and indie gems (Villagers’ “Becoming a Jackal”). There’s the obligatory Kanye West nod, but generally the choices prove refreshingly unusual. Continue reading »

You all submit so many great covers it’s hard to keep up. When we fall behind, we gather the best and brightest in a Submission Roundup.

It’s that time once again. The proverbial mailbox is bursting with great submissions worthy of a feature, but there’re just too many!
