Brisbane based Aussie indie rockers The Jungle Giants recently appeared on Australian radio station Triple J, where they performed thier track “Love Signs” as well as a cover of Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa‘s “One Kiss.” “We picked the song because we’ve all kind of been Dua Lipa addicts, we’ve just been following her religiously.” said vocalist Sam Hales. “One of my favorite elements of the track is that it’s really quite housey but it’s really pretty. So, when we were trying to make it we tried to follow that kind of arrangement.” Continue reading »
English Singer-Songwriter Natasha Khan, better known by her stage name Bat For Lashes has done her fair share of cover songs in the past. The other night she dropped by Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show and reminded us all why we fell in love with her covers in the first place. Bat For Lashes covered the wildly popular Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ dance anthem “We Found Love.” A song that had almost slipped out of the cover song realm in the last few months. Each video was beautifully filmed in a different location, swapping the usual bedroom-webcam aesthetic for barns and harbors. The cinematic backdrops frame Everlea singer Justin Dubé’s lovely acoustic takes on the Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and over a dozen others. Continue reading »

There’s no denying that the song can make just about anybody want to dance, but the great thing about covers of a song like this is that they can make you want to do other things. Continue reading »
Best (So Far) finds the finest first-round covers of the latest pop hits.
