British ukulele player Sophie Madeleine knows the reach of a YouTube cover. Released two years ago, her bedroom cover of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” has garnered over 200,000 views and earned her props from musicians like Ingrid Michaelson. So to promote her upcoming album The Rhythm You Started, she is leading up to the July 25th release date with a cover a day.

So far she’s posted 13 songs in as many days. Her covers range from old-time standards (“All I Do is Dream of You”) to new pop hits (Darwin Deez’s “Radar Detector”). Most find her strumming quiet ukulele chords behind her deceptively powerful singing. Several, though, create a more advanced video collage with mini xylophones, kazoos, and more.

We’ve selected a few standouts of both types below. Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” and the Chiffons’ “One Fine Day” both get the multi-instrument collage treatment while Daniel Johnston’s “True Love Will Find You in the End” and the aforementioned Darwin Deez track get lower-key videos. Check them out below, then go over to YouTube to see the others. Be sure to subscribe to her channel, since a new one comes every day.
