Have you ever asked yourself, “What’s a great pairing of wine and a cover song?” If you drink a ton of wine and listen to an equivalent amount of covers, the answer is still probably…no. Believe it or not though, someone has given this some thought. In fact, author/wine connoisseur Gary Vaynerchuk was recently asked this pivotally important question. The answer, in Vaynerchuk’s expert opinion, is an Itsas Mendi No. 7 Txakolina paired with Alien Ant Farm’s cover of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.” Of course!
According to Vaynerchuk, “the second you press play, it attacks and explodes. Similar to this wine.” While it remains unclear what he’s talking about, apparently Vaynerchuk advocates this “phenomenal combo” for “when you want to get pumped up.” It may seem like an odd pairing, or even a head-scratching premise to begin with, but Vaynerchuk is unwaveringly enthusiastic in his recommendation. The world of cover commentary is a more “bomb-ass” place with this unclassifiable contribution.
