Def Leppard just announced the release of a new boxed set featuring all of the band’s studio recordings from 2015 to 2023. Titled, Vol 4. the box will feature the albums Def Leppard (2015), Diamond Star Halos, (2023) and 2023’s Drastic Symphonies. The six disc/11 LP collection will also include 41 rarities, including a Beatles cover. The band recorded their cover of The Beatles “Revolution,” for a TV commercial, but ended up not being used and had sat in the Def Leppard vaults since then.
Lead singer Joe Elliott described his reaction to first hearing The Beatles as “love at first listen,” and the rest of the band has talked about their Beatle fandom.
The cover sticks pretty close to the original vibe, but has the unique Def Leppard sound of loud drums and an epic guitar solo. The singalong-y backup vocals remain. (In keeping with the Beatles connection, the disc also contains 3 songs the band recorded at Abbey Road in 2008.)
Vol 4. is available for pre-order now and will be available November 13th.
