Wet Leg‘s Rhian Teasdale is appearing in a new commercial for Deutsche Telekom and the band is providing the music: a cover of The Cardigans‘ “My Favorite Game.” Appearing as part of a new campaign titled, “Not a Passenger,” the ad features Teasdale driving while being inundated with influencers, ads and AI slop. All the while, the background music is Wet Leg’s new take on The Cardigans’ song.
In a press release announcing the campaign, Teasdale said, “I love being in a band and I love making music, but it’s 2026, which means I also run a couple of social media accounts. And with that comes a constant stream of opinions about me, my friends, and the music we make. Whether those opinions are super sweet and encouraging or creepy and loaded with misogyny, it’s important to me to be able to tune them out and stay on my own frequency.”
The song is a pretty straight-ahead version of the original, but the fun, driving beat keeps things moving. “My Favorite Game” first appeared on The Cardigans’ 1998 album, Gran Turismo. The video, which featured lead singer Nina Persson causing all sorts of havoc while out joyriding, was the subject of some controversy because of the dangerous driving featured.
Wet Leg will debut their version of the song live at an event in Berlin promoting the new campaign.
