Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong‘s side project, The Coverups, played a show in and included a David Bowie cover, featuring Iron Maiden‘s Bruce Dickinson.
The band, which Armstrong fronts, includes Green Day touring member Jason White, audio engineer Chris Dugan and tour manager Bill Schneider. Dickinson joined the band at their San Diego gig, to sing the 1972 classic, “All the Young Dudes,” which Bowie wrote. The band also covered “Ziggy Stardust” later on in the set.
The previous Coverups show in West Hollywood featured a cover of Nirvana‘s “Drain You,” which Armstrong dedicated to L7 bassist Jennifer Finch, who recently passed away after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer.
