Umphrey’s McGee recently played three nights at the Pink Creek Lounge in Livingston, Montana and their sets over the three days included a few new covers, along with some favorites. The band, who are still without guitarist Jake Cinninger, who announced a leave of absence in March for personal reasons, busted out a new cover of Green Day‘s “Longview” during their Saturday night show. This was the first time the band had covered Green Day.
On the night before, they offered up a cover of Steely Dan‘s “Dirty Work.” While this song was a new cover for the band, they’ve covered The Dan before, including their takes of “Hey Nineteen,” “Reelin’ in the Years,” “Peg,” and “Kid Charlemagne” and “Show Biz Kids.”
Obviously the Green Day take was more surprising for fans, but, as fan shot video shows, both covers were well appreciated by fans. (Covered at the band’s Thursday show included Talking Heads‘ “Burning Down the House” and Eddie Money‘s “Two Tickets to Paradise.”)
