The Black Crowes & Whiskey Myers

The Black Crowes and country rock band Whiskey Myers will be crossing the US this summer as part of their “Southern Hospitality” tour. Prior to hitting the road on May 17th, the two bands joined together in the studio to cover a pretty infamous Rolling Stones song.

With singers Chris Robinson and Cody Cannon leading the charge, the two groups offer up a loud, rollicking and fun version of the Stones’ 1973 album closer “Star Star.” The new version has the same feeling of singing something inappropriate and absolutely relishing the opportunity. While it will never make a list of the best Stones songs ever, there’s something enjoyable about singing along to this one; even if some of the sentiments have aged terribly.

Whether or not the two will perform the song together this summer is unclear, but regardless, Chris Robinson is looking forward to the gigs. “Doing a full tour in 2026 is incredible,” he said in an interview accompanying the release of the video for the song. “Like that people care that we have this level of success and that people still enjoy it, and that these songs are in their lives. They’re part of my life, and they’re a part of your life. And I think that’s always been really important to us.”

  1. Sweet cover indeed. High point of a whole lotta rock ‘n’ rollers lives was singing along with the Stones as they sang Starfucker in the mid-’70s at the Reading Festival.
