Kacey Musgraves stopped by BBC Radio 1 as part of her promotion of her upcoming new album, and, while performing a few songs, she included her take on a SZA song.
Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere will be released May 1st and, yes, she performed the single “Dry Spell,” but she also played SZA’s “Kill Bill.” Her version is pretty close to the original, albeit with more country twang. Regardless, it’s still fun and the emotion still rings true. She’s played the song a bunch of times over the past few years, usually on tour. She first played it with Nickel Creek in Boston on September 7th, 2024. It then became a live staple for shows throughout 2025.
Musgraves also made a last-minute Coachella appearance on April 18th where she performed several songs from the new record. (She didn’t play her SZA cover, but did include songs by George Jones and Brooks & Dunn.)
