The Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to The Beacon Theater in New York for the second week of their ten-night residency, and for night five, added a few special guests for a few covers. After covering Junior Wells‘ “Little By Little,” and Bob Dylan‘s “Down in the Flood,” the band was joined onstage by Wilco guitarist Nels Cline for a cover of The Rolling Stones‘ classic “Loving Cup.”
With producer Mike Elizondo joining in on lead vocals alongside Susan Tedeschi, the band offered a particularly bluesy take on the Exile on Main Street classic. The song gets a great addition with the band’s horn section and, of course, the guitar interplay between Derek Trucks and Cline. The song eventually transitioned into Sleepy John Estes‘ “Leaving Trunk.”
The Tedeschi Trucks Band’s new album Future Soul was released at midnight on Friday, March 20th.

That’s not Mike Elizondo singing lead. It’s Mike Mattison, one of TTB’s back up singer, who acts as lead male vocalist.
