CHVRCHES bandleader Lauren Mayberry told Billboard that the band recorded two covers during the sessions for their next album. The group previously released Robert Palmer’s “Addicted To Love” on the Tell Me Lies soundtrack, and now they add The Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights” to the list, which also now appears on the show’s soundtrack. This version of the song stays true to the original while offering a refreshed timbral softness and imparts an ever-so-slightly different sonic flavor.
When asked about their experience with their newest release, she remarked: “I think having a genuine love for the show put me in a good position to know what I would want the payoff of that final scene to feel like, from a fan’s perspective… I did email Ben [Gibbard] about it to make sure they wouldn’t find it weird and so that he didn’t think we were being creepy. He was characteristically lovely about it, of course.”
