Foo Fighters and Taylor Monson Cover

Mariah Carey was the 2026 MusiCares person of the year and at the gala held to celebrate, the Foo Fighters and Taylor Momsen teamed up to cover a lesser-known corner of Mariah’s catalog.

The two played “Hermit” and “Love is a Scam,” both of which were recorded for Carey’s unreleased 1995 grunge album Someone’s Ugly Stepdaughter. The performance also included guitarist Pat Smear’s return to the Foos, after he missed the band’s last performance when he broke his foot at home. (You can see video of “Hermit” below. Footage of “Love is a Scam” has yet to show up online. The two last performed together at last year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, where they played “Black Hole Sun” in honor of inductees Soundgarden.)

Also performing in honor of Carey were Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, Teddy Swims, Charlie Puth, John Legend, Maggie Rogers, Kesha and Billy Porter.

Carey was thrilled with the whole evening, calling it “overwhelming in the best possible way.”
