Widespread Panic's 'Alice in Wonderland' Halloween

A Widespread Panic Halloween show is a tradition, and, after skipping last year, the band was back on stage Halloween night, making up for lost time in their performance in Savannah, Georgia.

Fans knew they were in for something special as the whole band took the stage dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland. (John Bell was the Cheshire Cat, Jimmy Herring was Tweedle Dee/Dum, Dave Schools was The Executioner, JoJo Hermann was The Caterpillar, Duane Trucks was The Queen of Hearts and Domingo Ortiz was the Mad Hatter.)

The band’s first set included a snippet of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” during “Entering a Black Hole Backwards.” The set also featured a debut cover: Alice in Chains’ “Down in a Hole.” And then The Doors‘ “Riders on the Storm” was included during “Proving Ground.”

Set two featured a full version of “White Rabbit” for the first time in the band’s career, as well as The Who’s “Who Are You,” The Doors’ “You’re Lost Little Girl,” and Parliament’s “Red Hot Mama.” But that was not it, as the band also worked Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” into their encore, between “Dream Song” and “Climb to Safety.”
