Waxahatchee

Waxahatchee (aka Katie Crutchfield) is an admitted Taylor Swift fan who has in the past covered Swift’s “But Daddy, I Love Him” in concert. And a few weeks ago in Kansas City, Crutchfield took to the stage as part of Jason Sudeikis’ Thundergong! benefit.

But instead of performing any of her own music (including anything from her newest project, a collaboration with her twin sister Allison, MJ Lenderman and Brad Cook called Snocaps), she chose to cover Taylor Swift. And, more specifically, the title track from Swift’s latest album The Life of a Showgirl.

Fan-shot video from the show shows her covering the song pretty close to the original. The performance raised over a million dollars to help provide prosthetic limbs to amputees. The evening, which is usually rich with covers, ended with Crutchfield joining all the other performers in leading a singalong of The Beatles‘ “With a Little Help From My Friends.”
