Portugal. The Man have a new record coming out. It’s called SISH. If that isn’t enough, they also have a new cover out as well. The group has released a cover of the KPop Demon Hunters song “Golden” on Amazon Music.
In a press release announcing the new cover, lead singer John Gourley said, “I’ve recently fallen deep into K-pop — big fan of TWICE and others. But once ‘Golden’ found its way into my dreams, it was inescapable. I’ve sung this song a thousand times with our daughter, and always loved the idea of breaking it down with an acoustic guitar and strings. It’s just such a beautiful arrangement.” And he is correct. It is a beautiful arrangement. The group slows the song down, but the lyrics still stand out and deliver the same message.
The animated movie KPop Demon Hunters debuted on Netflix earlier this year and quickly became a sensation. The soundtrack album was recently certified Platinum.
