Geese played in San Diego on Halloween night and, in keeping with the holiday, included several “imitations” (as front man Cameron Winter called them). The band included three excerpts from songs by The Stooges as well as The Velvet Underground.
Pieces of “TV Eye,” “Down on the Street,” and “Loose,” all from The Stooges’ 1970 album Fun House were featured in the band’s main set. And then, during the encore, they performed a full version of The Velvet Undergrounds “I’m Waiting for My Man,” from their 1967 debut album. (Video of the Stooges songs haven’t surfaced yet, but you can watch the full Velvets cover below.) Winter did make one lyric change, adjusting the amount of money he had in his hand from the original’s $26 to $347. The band’s take on the song is a little slower and gets into a groove much more than the original, and is in some ways more reminiscent of the versions of the song Lou Reed did during his solo career.
The group’s sold out tour promoting their third album continues through November, before the band heads to New Zealand and Australia in February.
