Florence and the Machine

Florence + The Machine performed a mashup cover on SiriusXM. Their own “Which Witch” mixed with “Abracadabra” is a refreshing take on the eerie Lady Gaga hit. Somehow, by combining their original 2015 tune with the radio hit from this year, they made some serious sonic magic.

Their performance has been extremely well received, with listeners commenting, “Florence covering Abracadabra is exactly what I needed,” and “The spells are real. I am here for it.” The overall tone of the cover is haunting, the kind of sound that goes straight into your core. Then, the lush background of low harmonies and harp adds an ethereal mystery.

Lady Gaga had collaborated with Florence Welch in 2016, which resulted in their recording of “Hey Girl.” Then, the night before this performance of “Abracadabra,” Gaga had covered “Hey Girl” live on piano for the first time, during her The Mayhem Ball tour.

Needless to say, fans are enthralled at the possibilities of what covers and collaborations might arise from these artists in the future.
