Rosé Covers Lana Del Rey and Paul Simon

BLACKPINK’s Rosé took to The Howard Stern Show last week to deliver a striking medley that blended Lana Del Rey’s “Norman Fucking Rockwell” with Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.” Stripping both artists’ songs down to their essence, Rosé crafted a seamless throughline between Del Rey’s atmospheric pop and Simon’s timeless folk to create the cover song “50 Ways to Leave Your Norman.”

The medley opens with Del Rey’s haunting melancholy and, without pause, transitions into Simon’s warmth. The seamless transition reveals parallels between the storytelling of both songs, rooted in longing and intimacy. While the backing band was small, it underscored the cinematic performance.

This isn’t Rosé’s first time impressing with cover songs. Her solo projects and live appearances often include choices from outside her typical genre, from The Killers to Paramore. BLACKPINK is currently on a break between touring cycles. Rosé’s medley suggests she may be using the time to experiment more as a solo artist in her off time.
