Maddux Batson

Maddux Batson has been making waves in the world of music since his covers went viral on TikTok in 2023. Then, his original country-pop singles like “Tears in the River” and “X’s” took off. Recently, the young star has been featured in the CMT Campfire Sessions with his stunning yet simple acoustic cover of “God Bless the Broken Road”.

The 2004 Rascal Flatts version has been covered by many. However, few realize that the ’04 song is a cover, too. “God Bless the Broken Road” was originally written by Marcus Hummon, Bobby Boyd, and Jeff Hanna and first recorded by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

In the hands of Maddux Batson, this song becomes gentle and pure. Two acoustic guitars strum intricately, supporting his soulful vocals (which are the perfect blend of richness and brightness). The harmonies are equally locked in, a clear nod to the vocals of LeVox and the band that serves as his inspiration. “This song right here is one of my favorites of all time,” he wrote.
