Bad Mary

Halloween is upon us, which means musicians far and wide are racing to learn a spooky song to incorporate into their set. And New York-based band Bad Mary has done just that with their cover of The Rocky Horror Show‘s “Time Warp,” a lovely addition to the canon.

The band’s Facebook describes their music as “high-energy, danceable punk that’s fast, loud, and fun.” And their take on the Richard O’Brien song does just that, with emphasis on the “fun” part of the equation.

The song, which first appeared in the 1973 stage show The Rocky Horror Show and then reached the cult classic level with the 1975 film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show has become a seasonal staple. Thankfully Bad Mary’s version is just as enjoyable as the original, and the perfect addition to your seasonal playlist.

“I grew up doing theatre and always gravitated toward the weird rock musicals and rock operas,” lead singer Amanda Mac told RabbleRouse News, “so Rocky Horror Picture Show was such an influence on me. I was going to a theater every week at midnight with my high school friends, covered in glitter, and it set the tone for everything I’ve tried to create since.”

How’s the “Time Warp” done? Well, you see, it’s just a jump to the left…
