South London indie-rock band Bears in Trees released a cover of Twenty One Pilots’ “We Don’t Believe What’s On TV.” The cover was released as part of Rock Sound’s Blurryface Reborn tribute album, celebrating a decade since the release of Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface. Co-vocalists Iain Gillespie and Callum Litchfield both have very distinctive voices. While the instrumentals on the cover stay faithful to the soul of the original, the vocals alone make the cover sound like a Bears in Trees specialty. Twenty One Pilots is clearly an influence on Bears in Trees’ sound, including their regular use of ukulele in the lineup.
“Honestly, ‘We Don’t Believe What’s on TV’ is such a beautiful track. When we first approached the song, we wanted to be as true to the original as possible,” Gillespie told Rock Sound. “We asked ourselves, what makes us unique and how do we bleed that into the song, rather than what we wanted the song to be.”
Bears in Trees’ latest single, “No Love, No Heartbreak,” was released this past June, following “Left, Right, Goodnight,” released in May 2025. Both are ahead of their upcoming album, Success is Unlikely.
