Pierce the Veil

Two years ago, Pierce the Veil performed an earworm of a version of “Karma Police.” There was Vic Fuentes’ emotive voice, the synergistic backup of melodic and bittersweet guitars, and featured artist Brad Hargreaves (Third Eye Blind) spearheading the rhythm section. The result was a completely reinvented cover, which was extremely well received. Now they’ve released a music video alongside an announcement of the band’s deluxe vinyl release for their album The Jaws of Life, which includes this cover. The vinyl will come with an exclusive 36-page booklet with hand-selected tour photos.

In the video, a fuzzed-out, greasy camera lens pans to hands on drumsticks, guitars, and a bass…And then we realize: “We’re underwater.” Small light bubbles float to the surface, somehow making it feel like we’re in the depths of the ocean with the band. A girl swims and dances with a white T-shirt. Somehow, this official video makes the cover seem even bleaker, more raw than before.
