You’ve definitely heard the song before, but you have never heard it quite like this. The Kansas City, Missouri electronicore (electronic+metalcore) band The Browning have just released their take on Eiffel 65’s hit song, “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” in advance of their upcoming tour of the US.

The Browning’s take on the song is (much) more aggressive than the original, yet faithfully includes that riff that has lived in so many brains rent-free. If you couldn’t get it out of your head before, this take won’t help eradicate it. The video, which depicts the band on a variety of ships in space, show that the song has continued its spread, now reaching the darkest corners of our universe.

The song was written by the Italian dance group, Eiffel 65 and appeared on their 1999 debut album, Europop. The single reached number one in 18 different countries and was nominated for a Grammy. The group did not find the same success with subsequent albums and singles and disbanded in 2005. Two of the members did reunite in 2010, so hope springs eternal for a follow-up hit.
