Franz Ferdinand just released their sixth studio album and while appearing on Amazon Music UK’s series “Sounds in the City” were joined onstage by former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.
Together they performed a cover of The Smiths’ classic “Bigmouth Strikes Again,” originally from their 1986 album, The Queen is Dead. Marr looked nonplussed as usual, but clearly singer Alex Kapranos were clearly thrilled to share the stage with him. The mood was celebratory and the band didn’t try to reinterpret the song, but just enjoy the collaboration with Marr.
Marr then hung around and played on two additional songs with the band: “Build it up,” from their new record The Human Fear and “Do You Want To,” from 2005’s You Could Have It So Much Better.
