unto others pet sematary

Meet the melodic and nostalgic rockers Unto Others, formerly known as Idle Hands. After the release of their third album Never, Neverland, the group made a cover and music video of the Ramones’ iconic “Pet Sematary.”

The harmonies are impeccable. The synths are rich in the mix. The drums and guitars provide a wailing bold backdrop for it all to take place. Singer Gabriel Franco’s voice comes in, deep and rich, as, in the video, we watch cut scenes of graveyards, eerie trees, and finally the musicians performing under an indigo light.

The group found the song was one of their most frequently requested covers, so they decided to make it come to life, The end result is a pleasantly modern version of the ghastly tune that, at times, harkens back to the underground sound of the Ramones. “Pet Sematary was one of the first Stephen King books I read. We also played the song live and people…were really happy we played it. We kept getting requests to record it, so we did,” said Gabriel Franco in a recent interview with Genre Is Dead.
