Duran Duran are offering up a new cover of an Electric Light Orchestra hit in a special-edition version of their most recent record. The newly released deluxe edition of 2023’s Danse Macabre includes a take on ELO’s “Evil Woman.” The new version of the song features a more insistent dance beat with a great bass line and plays up the fun contained in the Jeff Lynne classic.

The initial version of Danse, released around this time last year, had a distinct Halloween theme, including new songs as well as reworkings of Duran Duran classics and covers of songs originally by Billie Eilish (“Bury a Friend,”) the Rolling Stones (“Paint It Black”) and Talking Heads (“Psycho Killer”). Keyboardist Nick Rhodes said the album came from “a spontaneous decision to pull together a record which celebrated the madness and joy of Halloween.” He added that the new version of the record came about when they had a little more time to consider what to include.

The album also features former guitarists Andy Taylor and Warren Cuccurullo as well as contributions from Nile Rogers and Victoria De Angelis. The new version of Danse Macabre was released October 11th and the band is playing Madison Square Garden on Halloween night.
