Art Garfunkel is known for his partnership with Paul Simon, but a new record features a new duet partner: his son, Art Garfunkel Jr. On their debut record, Father and Son, the pair cover Cyndi Lauper’s classic, “Time After Time.” The new version is more orchestrated than the original and, of course, has been re-arranged as a duet.
When asked why “Time After Time,” Garfunkel Jr. said, “it’s one of my all-time favorites from the ‘80s. It’s a song that fits perfectly on this album because it deals with our relationship, this unique bond between my father and me. From one generation to the next, it’s about time passing, about passing the baton, but here we are working together in the studio and thus begins the next cycle, as my father takes this exciting next step with me.”
The all-covers project features 12 songs, including the Rodgers & Hart standard “Blue Moon,” The Beatles’ “Blackbird,” and Don McLean’s “Vincent.” Father and Son is scheduled for release on November 8th.
I hate to say it, but this sounds autotuned.
