Performing at the Truck Festival in Oxfordshire, England, post-punk indie darlings Wet Leg performed a surprise cover of the recent Charlie XCX smash hit “Brat.”
Dropping near the end of the set, this track was well translated from its electronic roots into post-punk. An extremely catchy baseline and a mean snare drum, along with frontwoman Rhian Teasdale’s delivery, makes this track sound like it would fit anywhere on Wet Leg’s rumored upcoming album.
There’s no official release of this cover yet, but I’ll be holding out for it on streaming services so we can experience more than the short snippet that was recorded below.
