As a part of the soundtrack to the Sumarian Comics American Psycho series, horror-metal band Ice Nine Kills have teamed up with ’90s Ska kings Reel Big Fish to release a version of Katrina and the Waves‘ “Walking on Sunshine.”
True to Patrick Bateman’s description of himself, this cover is utterly insane. Ice Nine Kill’s heavy metal licks smash into the happy-go-lucky horns of Reel Big Fish, sounding like two songs being played at the same time. Listen further, and you’ll see that these elements intertwine brilliantly, the high BPM of both genres helping them mesh together.
This one’s going to divide people. The schizophrenic sound will be too much for some, and just right for others, either way, a great cover for an American Psycho tribute.
