Wallows is a 3-piece rock band fronted by vocalist/actor Dylan Minnette (aka the star from 13 Reasons Why). Recently, the group decided to perform a cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s wildfire-song “Espresso” at Sirius XM. But whereas the original feels like ultra-clean radio-ready pop, the live Wallows version took on an entirely different feeling: A little bit beachy, and even more laidback.
Minnette’s stripped-bare vocals were down to earth and romantic- and once the bright electric and acoustic guitars mixed with the melody, the trio of timbres became simply irresistible. As you watch the live video you can see the guitarists tapping their feet and smiling. Wallows’ live performance passes the vibe check. Plus, you have to love a live cover that isn’t trying too hard.
