Christie Gardner and Helen Dixon are a dynamic duo full of dulcet melodies and harmonies inside a lush bed of sound. The English group recently performed the Simon and Garfunkel tune “Homeward Bound” for Best Fit’s secret sessions at the End of The Road Festival (an annual fest in England that focuses on independent music).

For their version, lilo did away with the bright snare on the backbeat and overall boom-quick rolling feel, opting for a single guitar instead. However, the duo makes the piece full of harmonies, exactly as Simon and Garfunkel did. This version is ethereal, heartfelt and pared-down. The biggest surprise with this cover is that it doesn’t speed up and slow down in the same way that the original does, making it tinged with a bit more sadness.

There’s also something to be said about setting the song with higher, all-female vocals- It makes it hit differently.
