JXDN yellow

JXDN (AKA Jaden Hossler) is a well-known internet personality and singer-songwriter from Tennessee. The artist first took off from a video he posted on TikTok in 2019. Then, his debut album, Comatose came out in 2020. JXDN primarily hovers around the emo/pop-punk and rap genres. And now? The artist has taken on the iconic, anthemic Coldplay song “Yellow.” The pop-rock fusion cover of the song was created for Spotify Singles.

This version of the tune has a slightly different take on the melody than one would expect. So much so that it is nearly a countermelody. The artist also goes for a more processed poppy vocal sound rather than more of the indie-rock feel, which makes it feel very clean. When the ‘ahs’ hit in the chorus (paired with the alternate melody for this section) listeners automatically give a sign of relief. If the verses felt like light romantic snowfall or rain, the chorus would be the sun (finally) peeking through the clouds.
