When Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham AFC, an ailing football team based on the Welsh Border, it raised the profile of the team immeasurably. But the City where the squad is based has many other things going on.  Fresh off the release of their first album indie-rock quartet Royston Club, Wrexhamites all, bring us a new cover of Taylor Swift‘s “You Belong With Me.”

Royston Club bring admirable self-confidence to everything they do. Formed in 2019, everything is a rehearsal for the stadium sing-alongs they know are coming. Their version goes beyond Swift’s and removes any doubt about the ultimate outcome of this previously plaintive tale. Tom Faithfull provides lead vocals and rhythm guitar, with Ben Matthias providing focus via lead guitar and an excellent rhythm section of Sam Jones and Dave Tute the song is side-eye-free tribute.
