Ahead of a UK tour in May, British doomgaze (doom + shoegaze apparently) outfit Sugar Horse have released a cover of the 80s classic ‘Head over Heels’ by Tears for Fears.

If you weren’t aware of what doomgaze was before now, this track is certainly a good example of the genre. Said the band, “It’s a song we’ve wanted to have a crack at for a while now and I think the fact it’s still clearly that song after our hamfisted mangling, is testament to just how genius Roland and Curt were.”

We couldn’t agree more – the original melody of the track is maintained, but Sugar Horse play with the volume, with the chorus being increased to ear-splitting proportions. A heavy amount of distortion builds throughout the track, giving an ominous sense of dread as you move through the familiar elements of the track.
