World-famous jazz pianist, vocalist, and arranger Jacob Collier has surprise-released a collection of live covers from his recent tour, titled Piano Ballads – Live From The Djesse World Tour 2022. One of the highlights is his version of 1948 oldie “Tennessee Waltz”.

Collier shows off his dulcet vocals after a long, winding, and bendy instrumental intro. The cover includes piano riffs and a wash of steel string guitar from accompanying musician Stian Carstensen. This interesting experimental version has a rubato feeling and is over 8-minutes long. He manages to make the song sound both like old country and like something refreshing and Avante-Garde.

This collection of live covers also includes “Everytime We Say Goodbye”, “How Deep is Your Love”, “All at Sea”, “Dancing Queen”, and “Carolina on my Mind”.
