For their new Amazon single, Palaye Royale, a Las Vegas trio signed by Sumerian Records, took The Beatles’ oft-covered “Eleanor Rigby” and ran with it, creating a version that features thick-stacked vocals and impressively expansive instrumentation. The introduction alone is nothing less than apocalyptic.

The cover is full of textural intricacies, with wailing violins and a synth-bass line. It then crescendos into booming drums and with highlights of running 8th-note cello. The quintessential descending line is filled with snare, which later transitions into near-trappy electronic drums. This cover also borrows some flavors from metalcore and orchestral music. But it closes with the melody in an electric sitar, tastefully harkening back to a much earlier Beatles era.
