Emerging as an up and coming singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, Gracie Abrams has cited a range of lyrical masters as influences from Joni Mitchell to Lorde. It’s no surprise she was drawn to cover one of the most classic songwriting duos of all time. Nearing the 51st anniversary of Abbey Road, Abrams has delivered a soothing cover of The Beatles’ classic “Golden Slumbers.”
The 20-year-old Abrams has garnered a large online following, which built anticipation for her debut EP minor, which dropped in July. In this cover, Abrams’ vocals are almost a whisper over a muffled piano to create what she has described as a sort of lullaby. She wrote, “Recording this song ages ago just felt like singing a lullaby during a harder time when that was the kind of feeling I needed”.
