Brett Eldredge has put a country spin on Billie Eilish’s “When the Party’s Over” for his new single. The song was recorded live at Glasgow, one of Eldredge’s last shows during the European leg of his recent tour.

In an Instagram post, Eldredge said that for him, the track acted as a reminder of the joy of experiencing live performance, encouraging listeners to “listen, close your eyes, find yourself in the crowd, and allow yourself to feel all the emotions.” He also spoke of how the young multiple Grammy award winner’s emotional honesty and strength inspired him to cover the song; “I was so blown away by her and her songwriting.”

Like Eilish’s original, Eldredge’s vocals are understated, which works to heighten the emotion of the track. Eilish’s delicate vocals sweep across the lyrics, whilst Eldredge’s smooth tone works surprisingly well with the song. Listen below.
