Chromatics have been teasing us with previews of their long awaited album, Dear Tommy. Instead of releasing the album promised to us over a year ago, Chromatics has flirted with our impatience once more, giving us just enough to hold onto hope with their cover of Cyndi Lauper‘s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” for fashion brand MANGO.
Ruth Radelet’s airy vocals are backed effortlessly by an ’80s-inspired drum machine in homage to the song’s roots (and, let’s be real, Chromatics’ signature sound.) A snippet of the cover has circulated in a MANGO ad for a while, but just yesterday they finally released a full version of the cover, renamed “Girls Just Wanna Have Some.” There’s a dub version too, and we couldn’t be more pumped.
