What kind of songs do you think an indie folk duo from Toronto that describe themselves as a “cookie-tin pedal enthusiast …[and a] purveyor of ghost-noises” would cover? Robyn? The Beach Boys? Luckily, yes and yes!

These guys certainly display a wide range of musical taste. If you have had the misfortune of having been held hostage by someone like Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne, you may not have heard the Beach Boys’ “Aren’t You Glad” or Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own”. Dog is Blue lends their own unique, organic and sincere sound and feel to these songs. Their authentic sounds rises from authentic instruments: Paul Watson and Laura Heaney use their own specially-made guitar pedals and amps. Having female and male sounds on these songs adds an additional dimension of entanglement.

Listen to the talented Canadians cover two very different and beloved songs below. You may find yourself dancing by yourself.
