After Beyonce unveiled a nearly perfect visual album a few weeks ago out of thin air, it is surprising that not many artists have attempted to cover some of the new bumpin’ tracks. Maybe artists are afraid to touch something so immaculate. Or maybe they just have to build their way up, starting first with some oldschool Beyonce and then working up to songs like “Blow” and “Partition.” For Brighton duo IYES, this seems to be the case with their take on “Crazy In Love.”
IYES’s rendition is highly atmospheric and sparse, more likely to be found in a swanky lounge than a energetic dance floor like the 2003 original. Even though this duo has only been active for around a year with a couple of demos, if this cover is any indication, they should be on your radar for 2014.
