When Yuck entered the scene in 2011 with their self-titled debut album, Sonic Youth comparisons abounded thanks to the heavy guitar distortion abundant in their well crafted, catchy tunes. The band has recently gone through some turmoil due to the departure of frontman Daniel Blumberg, but that hasn’t stopped the rest of the band from forging forward.

Yuck recently charged ahead by releasing a cover of New Order’s “Age of Consent” on which they honor the song’s new wave roots but beef it up significantly with their guitar distortions. It’s an approach that adds more texture to the song, keeping it true to the original but also making sure that it’s stamped – all over – with their sound. It’s new wave, souped-up. Check it out below. Yuck’s new album “Glow & Behold” is out in October.
