Anyone who knows Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album also knows its brilliance comes in no small part from the relationship tensions – to put it mildy – that occurred within the band during recording. The conflicts permeate every song, particularly the Lindsey Buckingham-penned “Go Your Own Way.”
While the lyrics pretty much give away how angry Buckingham was at Stevie Nicks, a recent cover by UK songstress Elsie reveals a slightly different side of the tune. She keeps the tempo at a slower pace than the frenetic original, and uses her stellar vocals to bring up a more melancholic and solemn sound. It’s these tormented undertones she does so well on the cover that are a vivid reminder of what the song is actually about. Have a listen below.
