A.V. Undercover from the A.V. Club has a very simple equation: 25 songs+25 artists= 25 unique covers. As each band enters the studio they choose from the remaining songs, covering them faithfully, or more often, creatively. The results speak for themselves over the years, from GWAR being stuck with Kansas‘ “Carry on My Wayward Son,” to Iron & Wine‘s version of George Michael‘s “One More Try,” to They Might Be Giants including the staff of the A.V. Club to join in on Chumbawamba‘s “Tubthumping.”

The adventurous bands and the quality song choices are what make this feature so special. And now you can help shape the 2013 edition of A.V. Undercover. Head over to the website to lay down your votes. 12 of the 25 songs will be fan chosen from the current list of 68 songs, broken into categories like “Ladies of the 80s,” “Whistling Songs,” and “We Used2 Like U (pre-1985 U2).” You have until Wednesday, January 30th to cast your vote.

Be warned, though; you can only choose one song from each category, which can be challenging. I mean, how can one honestly choose between New Kids on the Block‘s “Step By Step,” and *NSYNC‘s “Tearin’ Up My Heart”? Good luck.
