It is hard to believe that indie rockers Tegan & Sara have been churning out angst and heartbreak melodies for roughly 17 years. In anticipation of their seventh studio album, Heartthrob, the Quinn twins visited Billboard for a Candid Covers session of Cyndi Lauper‘s “Time After Time.”
The sisters mused that the original has an upbeat pop mentality about it, but when they covered it, they made it sound like they were “crying underneath your window,” arguably a truer rendition to the lyrics. The sisters are self-proclaimed “lifetime fans” of Lauper, and it shows in their tender and stripped down rendition of the 80s pop classic.
