While there are no shortage of Lil’ Wayne covers out in the universe, there hasn’t been a solid “How to Love” cover released in some time now. Wait no longer cover fanatics, American experimental-pop duo School of Seven Bells  has taken on the rappers auto-tuned ballad. It appears that Seven Bells’ lead singer Alejandra Deheza has exactly the delicate voice needed to breath some new life into the love song that explores a girls complicated relationship with learning “how to love.”

In the original Wayne delivers the lyrics through a very obvious auto-tuner, so it is nice to hear a simple yet sincere cover of a song that is actually quite strong in its lyrics and message. The Seven Bells change up the tune of the song by straying away from the acoustic sounds Wayne used and experimenting with electronic pop sounds that are almost haunting in their softness. It’s breathy and nostalgic in its musical delivery and honest in its emotional delivery. Where Wayne’s love song may have fallen short in its ability to convey the importance of a song like this, the Seven Bells cover goes above and beyond.
